I have really enjoyed making the cards with my die cuts but the bad side is that the inside of the cards are completely blank. When I see a blank piece of paper I feel the need to fill it up so it is a bit overwhelming thinking we have to come up with so many words to do it, so we both had a hard time trying to get motivated to fill them all out. I have to admit my hubby is quite creative when he puts his mind to it but after he works all day his brain is tired so he doesn't want to think at night. We have been working at the casino doing bands almost every weekend including Thursday Friday and Saturday nights and we dont get home till 2am then hubby has to be up super early on Sunday to get to church to play on the worship team so we haven't gotten much done on the weekends either. The cards and doodads were actually done a couple weeks ago but it took us a bit to fill them out. I guess the important thing is that they at least made it in the mail even though they may be a bit late!</span></span></p><span id="docs-internal-guid-2f27cad3-7fff-3b8c-70c0-d9928ff706e3"><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.295; margin-bottom: 8pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; white-space: pre-wrap;">As I have mentioned before it is getting harder and harder to come up with new ideas for my holiday cards. I have done St Pats tatting cards 5 times now and I have run out of patterns and there are only so many different ways to do clovers. I was on the hunt to try to come up with a rainbow and wasn't able to find one so I decided to try to come up with a pattern of my own. After several tries I came up with one that actually seemed to look ok. </span><span style="font-size: 14.6667px; white-space: pre-wrap;">I also had to make the pattern for the beaded horseshoe. I really dont love the way they look but I hope they at least look somewhat identifiable. </span></p></span><span style="font-family: verdana;"><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.295; margin-bottom: 8pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br /></span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.295; margin-bottom: 8pt; margin-top: 0pt;"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgnwWGglC_NsWI58nOLXV-_oBhDQyGqQWN-ZrwL8ybGnick5UmLvHdZ_Ushk9HAYY_cta2yL6n-3RUn-A7h__9_ZhTebZIhifBfRVtWs2GF4Aok6ioS03RYE5M0ED76JIwIllCFhY4_rN2HOHjdz1G9Zzgm71KpIvMyvveq-YhRhpuhZGOzeDsfHFsL=s2021" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2021" data-original-width="1765" height="291" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgnwWGglC_NsWI58nOLXV-_oBhDQyGqQWN-ZrwL8ybGnick5UmLvHdZ_Ushk9HAYY_cta2yL6n-3RUn-A7h__9_ZhTebZIhifBfRVtWs2GF4Aok6ioS03RYE5M0ED76JIwIllCFhY4_rN2HOHjdz1G9Zzgm71KpIvMyvveq-YhRhpuhZGOzeDsfHFsL=w254-h291" width="254" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-size: 11pt; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br /></span><p></p><br /><div style="line-height: 1.295; margin-bottom: 8pt; margin-top: 0pt; text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">These tended to curve inward all on their own so I didn't starch them. I am not really sure how they are going to re-form once they have been flattened in the envelope and then abused by the mail system. I am hoping they will be ok. I used Aunt Lydia’s thread called mexicana . The thread is what actually gave me the idea for trying to come up with a rainbow. This thread was great to work with so I may have to come up with another idea to use it again! I made 12 of these doodads and cards but so far I have only sent 8 of them out. We were hoping to have friends over this week and give them in person but that didnt happen and we have to work the next several days at the casino. </span></div><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.295; margin-bottom: 8pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br /></span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.295; margin-bottom: 8pt; margin-top: 0pt;"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEj3cyagTgMYZavDTNxNLiHwh0Kzeb0jfW4ym2xgqFvdvQ3g6APJGHZTNXhf0KPRfjfAAXO9x7MMMc7F01t3aRDFPLNUXYPlds1LPsdYrRRzb9vKBs33zkEjXdu4bvm1Wyr6QUlfKljW1VjBoznxUsQPttvS3mY79DryeuCzzR3rBR4D5VPN3R54uBqc=s2343" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2343" data-original-width="2194" height="431" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEj3cyagTgMYZavDTNxNLiHwh0Kzeb0jfW4ym2xgqFvdvQ3g6APJGHZTNXhf0KPRfjfAAXO9x7MMMc7F01t3aRDFPLNUXYPlds1LPsdYrRRzb9vKBs33zkEjXdu4bvm1Wyr6QUlfKljW1VjBoznxUsQPttvS3mY79DryeuCzzR3rBR4D5VPN3R54uBqc=w410-h431" width="410" /></a></div><br /><br /><br /><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br /></span><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><p></p><div style="line-height: 1.295; margin-bottom: 8pt; margin-top: 0pt; text-align: left;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span style="font-size: 14.6667px;">Did I mention my hubby is silly and creative? The silly bad news is that they have been done for over 2 years. Looking back I have only made 2 Easter cards and I am not really sure why I have so few. I know part of the reason why these didnt get sent out in 2020 is because we were all in the beginning of covid lock down. And last year Easter was super early and came right on the heels of St Pats. Anyway, I have already started to work on die cutting the cards out so please keep your fingers crossed for us that we actually get them in the mail in a timely manner…nay, maybe even early!</span></span><p></p><span style="font-family: verdana;"><br /><br />0</span>Nikki Coramhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06254811025515708924noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2854162191537344965.post-59497896557916340122022-03-16T19:32:00.000-07:002022-03-16T19:32:10.368-07:00Valentines Day<p> <span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt; white-space: pre-wrap;">So I am posting Valentines day almost just in time for St Patricks and for a reason I am very much ashamed of. Actually there is good news and bad news about valentines cards. The good news is that most (and I use that word loosely) of them actually made it in the mail in time . Unfortunately the ones that didn't make it in the mail were my close families. My parents were actually away from home for the holiday so I figured I had time to mail them later and then I kept putting those off and then I blinked and it was almost March. The others didn't make it in the mail because I kept putting them off because I was trying to come up with some gifts to send with them. I got overwhelmed with my hoarding stuff so I didn't get anything together to send. I didn't want to post the cards until i got the rest of them in the mail and as I sent these out with the St Pats card I am going to go ahead and make this post.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br /></span></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjyrBAV7gDondKk8MT-qSAkc7EEz4bguLsAgdKcTnRaJBkP7cV6TuKXuy0s1Za9rRI-JJwAOo1Qm5lcva6sIia2spteo7suhZ48khErsNzJeEc5JLDa6_nu-GqYw2dcJ0pRUdmgfeiT9pA6FvoSF8V57tJjp1fzkCt54kLkqTBxisWWhw9WPSUuLBU-=s3105" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2594" data-original-width="3105" height="341" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjyrBAV7gDondKk8MT-qSAkc7EEz4bguLsAgdKcTnRaJBkP7cV6TuKXuy0s1Za9rRI-JJwAOo1Qm5lcva6sIia2spteo7suhZ48khErsNzJeEc5JLDa6_nu-GqYw2dcJ0pRUdmgfeiT9pA6FvoSF8V57tJjp1fzkCt54kLkqTBxisWWhw9WPSUuLBU-=w434-h341" width="434" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br /></span><p></p><span id="docs-internal-guid-c503ef06-7fff-2617-1dd0-72e517196b35"><br /><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.295; margin-bottom: 8pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">The cute lil teddy bear for this holiday is from a pattern by <a href="http://tatknot.blogspot.com/p/tatting-patterns.html" target="_blank">Eliz Davis</a>. The pattern actually has several ideas for adding buttons to personalize them for holidays. I wasn't able to find any cute charms or buttons to fit so I actually found some stamping blanks that were in my hoarded stash that fit perfectly, so yeah me for using something from my stash instead of buying something more! I rarely do metal stamping and it definately takes practice to do. I dont love the way they turned out but it fit the spot really well. </span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.295; margin-bottom: 8pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br /></span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.295; margin-bottom: 8pt; margin-top: 0pt;"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiSe6IR6rYqbQ82IlDntc7lpS3qU0NkPaVtyObX9ZM463i3hWXR7IJFyRQ3UjaMUJ9JNbiwdPu81U9ZQasBgEFhwSZPvCimipK3-462uBhqxvlZE2xi8JkW4CyoQeRIJd7SM8VVoUgBAYWBKq58NYcZe2qit14OgRKUvISeJiE4t1Yd1xUXjHYw7yD9=s2265" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1699" data-original-width="2265" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEiSe6IR6rYqbQ82IlDntc7lpS3qU0NkPaVtyObX9ZM463i3hWXR7IJFyRQ3UjaMUJ9JNbiwdPu81U9ZQasBgEFhwSZPvCimipK3-462uBhqxvlZE2xi8JkW4CyoQeRIJd7SM8VVoUgBAYWBKq58NYcZe2qit14OgRKUvISeJiE4t1Yd1xUXjHYw7yD9=s320" width="320" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br /></span><p></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.295; margin-bottom: 8pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">I first tried using some purple thread because I wanted to use something other than pink or red but this thread was very difficult to work with. I am not sure what this thread is because the label was gone but the plys tended to split. Since this pattern is fairly large I went with a thread that I knew was easier to work with. I am pretty bummed that I didn't keep working with the purple thread because the finished product looks so much better but I knew I didn't want to have to struggle with the thread. This doodad has a weird join around the nose area which fought me on almost every time I had to do it so I didn't want to add more grief to making these.</span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.295; margin-bottom: 8pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br /></span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.295; margin-bottom: 8pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"> I ended up using the pink thread from artiste which is called dawn rose. I have used this particular thread several times but it is nice to work with so I rolled wit h it. I did end up having to press and starch the doodads. I wasn't able to make them stiffer by using glue because of the metal stamp blanks but I guess they turned out ok, just not as stiff as I would have preferred. I made 14 of these tatted doodads and cards. </span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.295; margin-bottom: 8pt; margin-top: 0pt;">I am going to go ahead a punch the publish button and get this posted and hope I have enougth left in me to keep going so I can get something posted for St Pats since they have made it in the mail. Wish me luck!</p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.295; margin-bottom: 8pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><br /></p></span>Nikki Coramhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06254811025515708924noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2854162191537344965.post-11344571030159965082022-01-27T12:37:00.003-08:002022-01-27T12:37:46.653-08:00No thanksgiving and Christmas with elves<p> <span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt; white-space: pre-wrap;">It has been another crazy couple of months. I am sure the holiday season is pretty crazy for a lot of people but I am one of the people who really dislikes Christmas. It is such a commercialized holiday and there is such high stress about shopping and finding gifts for one day of the year, people running around all stressed and mean and ignorant that I would just as soon forget the whole thing! </span></p><span id="docs-internal-guid-79639b2c-7fff-5ba6-5512-cfe262341119"><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.295; margin-bottom: 8pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">For thanksgiving this year we invited a friend over for a simple turkey dinner. We don't have any family left that lives in our area and our friends' family also all lives out of town so it was great to spend the day with adopted family! </span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.295; margin-bottom: 8pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">As far as my holiday cards go I am super ashamed to admit that we didn't even get them sent out. I really had to stop and think as to the reason because I have the cards and the tatted dodads done. The simple explanation for not getting them in the mail is because I was working on getting a family activity/gift together and i had hoped to send them together so I could save on shipping. The postage for my tatted cards have gone up to $0.88 each so I was going to just ship the cards with the holiday project I was working on. I underestimated how long it would take to get the project together so by the time I got the project all ready to ship it was weeks past thanksgiving so we decided to just keep the thanksgiving doodads for next year. </span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.295; margin-bottom: 8pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">The family project we were working on were elf on the shelf kits. We did elves for all our family members including several accessories for the elves and introduction letters to go with them. We have been missing family like crazy so we came up with the idea to send elves out and we set up a facebook page so that family members could post what their elf was up to. it was our small way to try to share in the holiday season even though we couldn't be together. I am hoping to set up another blog to share my othe craft ideas so keep an eye out for that blog to see the complete elf kit! Not only didn't the thanksgiving cards get sent out the elves were really late in getting in the mail because it took forever to round up the accessories i was looking for. The shelves are bare around here as far as food and craft items go so I had to hit several stores in a 30 mile radius to gather everything I needed. I know this is a very poor excuse but I wanted all the kits to be the same. </span></p><br /><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.295; margin-bottom: 8pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">For as crazy as the last couple of months have been, I am pleased to announce that most of my Christmas cards actually made it in the mail on time! Most of the cards for the family got put in the mail with the elves. I was still working on the tatted dodads for some of the cards so I am ashamed to admit that some of them didn't make it in the mail yet! I had been working on an Christmas gift for my kids that I have been working on for months that has been beating me up. Between trying to find the fabric and trim and being scared to finish them I am still trying to get them done. My plan was to send the cards with that project but they are still not done yet!</span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.295; margin-bottom: 8pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Part of the reason why they are not done yet is because of the craziness of the last couple of weeks! We had a bad snow storm come through our area that dumped 10-12 inches of snow in a matter of days and soon after that we had a terrible cold snap that froze our water pipes. We also ran out of propane in the middle of all that. We had called for a delivery well before we were completely empty but it took the propane company over 3 weeks to get us more propane which means we were completely out of propane for over a week and during the coldest week of the year so far! </span><span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt; white-space: pre-wrap;">Propane is our only form of heat in our living area which is a fairly large area with vaulted ceilings so that part of the house never got over 55 degrees. </span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.295; margin-bottom: 8pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt; white-space: pre-wrap;"> We had also been working a ton at the casino mixing bands. We worked every single weekend (some of them even 3 days in a row) since the weeks before thanksgiving right up till a couple of days after New years day! The day after new years both my husband and I got super sick. We are not sure if it was Covid or not because we were unable to find a place to get tested and couldn't find an inexpensive test in the mail. I can tell you that I can't ever remember being that sick for that long. I literally spent the last couple of weeks either in bed or sitting on the couch not doing a single thing. I didn't even feel well enough to read or do any tatting so that should tell you how bad it was! I also had a terrible UTI at the same time so between shoveling snow, dealing with no water, having no heat and being super sick it has been a super miserable last couple of weeks. Needless to say, so far, 2022 has not been a great year!</span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.295; margin-bottom: 8pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Anyway, here are my Christmas cards for 2021. The cards took forever to put together because the die cut that I wanted to use didn't cut the construction paper out very well so I had to “weed out” every single hole of the doily/wreath and in some cases I had to aslo cut out some of the holes. </span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.295; margin-bottom: 8pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br /></span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.295; margin-bottom: 8pt; margin-top: 0pt;"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgp0Ii0YK_ayxto3u9nZzZ7l-UnV9sFXAaM2sbNXUn34LaiYJVz9WH8riF7ikPM4TfbfqyXCNKeO6wirPxcrv8heEl-V2OwpIuOs62vVTJxDMig2XvTBv8tfdA2rzELQ4TMR-m-oo9DqDOpnSlHN316m7_9Y-2A4EbnU_yGKEznN188aUxgLkdOiA20=s2076" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1557" data-original-width="2076" height="328" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgp0Ii0YK_ayxto3u9nZzZ7l-UnV9sFXAaM2sbNXUn34LaiYJVz9WH8riF7ikPM4TfbfqyXCNKeO6wirPxcrv8heEl-V2OwpIuOs62vVTJxDMig2XvTBv8tfdA2rzELQ4TMR-m-oo9DqDOpnSlHN316m7_9Y-2A4EbnU_yGKEznN188aUxgLkdOiA20=w438-h328" width="438" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br /></span><p></p><br /><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.295; margin-bottom: 8pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">The tatted wreath came from an idea I got from a picture I had saved from some site I ran across a long while ago. I think the picture said it was a snowflake but when I went to try to find the site again I couldn't find it. The picture wasn't really clear so I had to tweak the counts a couple times before it would lay flat. I decided to add beads to the piece because I knew I wouldn't have time to do beaded doddads with this one. I used artiste size 10 crochet thread called grass. I used almost the entire ball to make 16 of these but I only ended up sending 11 of them out. It was a super easy pattern to remember and the thread was very easy to work with. I probably broke a couple tatters cardinal rule and hot glued the ribbon on top. I have never used glue in tatting before so I have no idea if the ribbon is going to stay but I needed to get these done quickly because I needed to get them in the mail with the elves which were super late as it was.</span></p><br /><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.295; margin-bottom: 8pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">On a little more positive note, I am well underway to having my Valentine tatting dodads done. I still need to come up with a card idea and get those done but hopefully I can get those done quickly and I will be able to get them in the mail in time for Valentines Day. Wish me luck!</span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.295; margin-bottom: 8pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br /></span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.295; margin-bottom: 8pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Calibri, sans-serif; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">PS This post has actually been written for over a week I had just forgotten to hit the puplish button! Considering all the crap that has been happening lately I will say both of these cancel each other out so I won't count either as a win or a loss.</span></p><span id="docs-internal-guid-df1f7688-7fff-74d3-e5b6-62733305f447"><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">As I have mentioned , several times in the past, I am having massive trouble finding tatting ideas for my holiday doodads. Therefore I am very happy to announce that this tatting motif is my own creation! I have done cats, bats, ghosts and spiders so the only thing left I could think of would be a witch. I did find one picture of a tatted witch on the internet but it didn't have a pattern with it so I used the picture as a general idea for mine. </span></p><br /><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Here is my first try but I didn't like the hat so I decided to change it a bit. I don't absolutely love the way she turned out but I am not very good at changing counts to make it better so I just rolled with what I had.</span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br /></span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-thBWsfBJLZc/YY2z13jWPyI/AAAAAAAAPWk/JmhxHawSr9A2Zl1ykHbqr6MHinOf5KbaACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/hallow%2Bwitch%2B2021%2Bprototype.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="235" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-thBWsfBJLZc/YY2z13jWPyI/AAAAAAAAPWk/JmhxHawSr9A2Zl1ykHbqr6MHinOf5KbaACLcBGAsYHQ/w211-h235/hallow%2Bwitch%2B2021%2Bprototype.jpg" width="211" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br /></span><p></p><br /><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">I knew I wanted a dark purple to do my witch with but the only dark thread I had was Artiste thread called plum . This particular color thread is not great to work with as it tends to get fuzzy and you can't really get the stitches tight. I am not sure why this particular ball is so bad because normally I like Artiste so I wonder if this roll was mismarked because it also looks different than my other balls. Thankfully I was able to close the rings fairly easily and it wasn't as terrible to work with as I remembered but it just doesnt look as clean as some of my other projects. I did end up having to starch these because the skirt was a bit floppy. I had run out of glitter glue and I wanted to add a bit of pizzaz to my witch because the color was so dark so I tried adding regular glitter to gel glue. It really didn't work out so well; partly because the flakes are too big with regular glitter and I used dollar store glue but I just kept using my mixture because I just can't waste things and I have a hard enough time trying to finish up projects so I just kept carrying on so I could get them done and in the mail. I ended up making 13 of these but I only ended up sending out 9 of them. </span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br /></span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br /></span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1xoRiieKesU/YY20MjP21pI/AAAAAAAAPWs/ZLjhnLAeQVwqio3x4pkaJMWW-GPu-tBYQCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/halloween%2B2021.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1570" data-original-width="2048" height="245" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1xoRiieKesU/YY20MjP21pI/AAAAAAAAPWs/ZLjhnLAeQVwqio3x4pkaJMWW-GPu-tBYQCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/halloween%2B2021.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br /></span><p></p><br /><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">So this is also an introduction to my new obsession...die cutting! I kept seeing the original red sizzix machines in goodwill so I finally broke down and brought one home not realizing that was the beginning of my next hoarding issue! I actually just bought it because I needed to create felt numbers for a project I am working on for christmas and it was going to be cheaper to buy the machine and the dies I needed than it would have been to buy already cut ones or spending tons of time cutting them out by hand. Soon after I found the red machine I found a big shot that ended up following me home. It took me quite a while to even try out either machine, I had purchased tons of dies at goodwill before I even tried to use it. Let me tell you it was a bit of a challenge trying to get the dies to cut correctly so I ended up spending quite a bit on accessories ( I bought new) for the machines just to get them to work ok. It makes me quite sick to my stomach thinking about how much I have spent on dies but I keep seeing them at goodwill and my hoarding nature takes over so I buy them. Not only are they expensive but the old dies take up lots of space. For the amount of money I have spent I am wishing I would have just bought a new cruicut. I am also finding that I may not ever use the dies I bought because the last couple of cards I made I ended up buying new dies to make the cards anyway. </span></p><br /><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">Below is my first die cut project I made. I did have to buy the die so I could get these done in a timely manner. I made these as thank yous for Mom Pat's funeral guests. You can't really see on either of the pictures of the cards but I used the decorative scissors on the outer edge of each card and colorful gel pens we got from Mom Pat to sign each one. The little tatted heart is the same pattern I used for my Valentines dodads in 2016 and you can find the pattern by<a href="https://www.facebook.com/notes/1419596348244786/"> onevirtuouswoman here</a>. Pats favorite color was blue and she loved to read so I thought a blue bookmark in a heart shape (to let everyone know that she will always be in our hearts) would be appropriate. </span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br /></span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br /></span></p><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-d8V9PcuNA0Y/YY20W0lpWmI/AAAAAAAAPWw/tp2i6bPqFNEqJCMem01ql2nZv0TQKyUpQCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/thank%2Byou%2B2021.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1770" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-d8V9PcuNA0Y/YY20W0lpWmI/AAAAAAAAPWw/tp2i6bPqFNEqJCMem01ql2nZv0TQKyUpQCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/thank%2Byou%2B2021.jpg" width="277" /></a></div><br /><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br /></span><p></p><br /><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;">My second die cut project was the halloween cards. I just now ordered the die I will use for my Thanksgiving cards. I was hoping to find some dies that I really liked but I wasnt able to find any that I liked more than the one I found on Amazon so I just had to spend money on something that I really didnt love. Now wish me luck that my order will get here in a timely fashion and I will be able to get my doodads out in time!</span></p><br /><br /><br /><p dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;"><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"> </span></p><div><span style="font-family: Arial; font-size: 11pt; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br /></span></div></span>Nikki Coramhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06254811025515708924noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2854162191537344965.post-17400153726144749422021-08-16T11:34:00.000-07:002021-08-16T11:34:28.955-07:004th of July that changed our world<p> </p><p class="MsoNormal">Well, well, I guess its probably no surprise that I am late
once again in posting my holiday doodad but this time I have a fairly
legitimate reason! Once again I have good news about why and really, really bad
news. The good news is that we got to hand deliver quite a few of them and some
of them actually even made it in the mail on time. My husbands yearly company
shut down happened right around the 4th of July again so we were
able to plan a trip back home.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>We were
keeping our fingers crossed that Covid would allow us to finally get back home
and thankfully everything aligned and we got to keep our plans. This year my
sister and her husband were actually able to be there at the same time so I got
to see my whole immediate family this trip! We actually got to spend a whole
week. We could have spent a few days more but we had to get back because the
casino that we used to mix bands for on almost every weekend before covid hit
finally opened up their new building and were finally able to get bands back
in. So the day after we got back we got to work a band in the new casino that,
not only was the first time that we had worked since covid but it was the first
time a band had been on the new stage! <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The shows went fairly well considering it was the first time
the new room had ever been used and also the sound system and the lighting rig
was a new system that we had never used before so not only did we have to learn a new room we had to learn new equipment. We did learn that we are both
completely out of shape and it was quite difficult to work 2 full days/nights
but I am sure we will get back into the habit fairly quickly.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Now for the really,
really bad news…The day after all that, we got the horrific news that my mother-in-law
had passed away that morning on the 4th of July. It was a complete
shock because she was doing so well. We were very very thankful that we had
just got to spend a couple of days with her a few weeks prior to that. It was
the first time we had seen her since covid so it would have been even more
difficult had we not been blessed with that time. Of all the people I send
these holiday cards to I knew without a double that mom Pat appreciated them
the most. She decorates for each holiday just like I do and she always made it
a point to at least text me to thank me for them.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I am absolutely
crushed to be saying this out loud but unfortunately Pats card is one that I
hadn’t gotten in the mail yet. While we were in Idaho we let the grandkids
paint canvas bags and we had all the kids make one for Pat by each putting a
painted hand on it and then printing their name next to it. None of the grand
kids had actually been able to meet her in person but she had been sending
holiday and birthday cards to each one of them.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;">
</span>I had planned to send the bag with the tatted card that next Monday so
that means that Pat didn’t get to see the bag or the card.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal"><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WBHmvc17JeQ/YRqiZUdrU2I/AAAAAAAAPQU/Xw_JGBhKgb4SruSP_NGvpndvU-n9iVkfgCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/4th%2Bjuly%2B2021.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1354" data-original-width="2048" height="324" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WBHmvc17JeQ/YRqiZUdrU2I/AAAAAAAAPQU/Xw_JGBhKgb4SruSP_NGvpndvU-n9iVkfgCLcBGAsYHQ/w508-h324/4th%2Bjuly%2B2021.jpg" width="508" /></a></div><br /><p class="MsoNormal"><br /></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">I ended up making 14<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>of these cards but only 7 ended up getting sent out. I had the best of intentions
to send them all out even though they would have been late but the horrific
news really” took the wind out of my sails.” I found the idea for the flag from
a picture I saw on <a href="http://www.wandasknottythoughts.com/2020/07/">Wandas knotty thoughts</a>. I just kind of made up the counts
for the flag and I just kept tweaking until I got it looking okay. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I don’t normally do holiday projects that take
more than one round, but I am running out of ideas for these cards. It didn’t
really take too long to make these and they were actually fairly easy to do. The
blue is artiste thread called blueberry and the red and white are just a couple
of balls I had gotten from Goodwill.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Obviously we are completely devastated and we are still
trying to get back to at least a little bit of normal, or I guess I should say “the
new normal for today” because I am quite certain that things are still changing
due to Covid. Time seems to be just slipping by and it is crusing by faster and
faster. I am quite certain that we will never be able to look at 4th
of July the same again but we are trying to take each day as the true gift that
it is and we need to try to live it as such!<o:p></o:p></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>Nikki Coramhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06254811025515708924noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2854162191537344965.post-58487431189335064952021-04-02T10:56:00.000-07:002021-04-02T10:56:57.967-07:00Happy International tatting day...April Fools<p> </p><p class="MsoNormal">So for international tatting day this year I decided to try tatting
something I don’t normally do. I have been admiring and enjoying reading Lace-lovin
Librarian Dianes blog for quite some time now and seeing all her lovely ice
drops so I decided to try making one. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I used
her pattern that she so graciously provided <a href="https://lacelovinlibrarian.blogspot.com/2016/11/step-by-step.html">here</a> but I did change the count on
the outer chains. I also watched this youtube <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GbEEr4Fy__Y">video</a>. Warning..this video is really long and not very well done but it gave me enough of an idea to figure out how to do this.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal"><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VYYz6eqZEVs/YGcy03P9cnI/AAAAAAAAN9k/uQg-mGiwjRUARAwa1H5RoOzVVPzgDHC8QCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/ice%2Bdrop%2B4-21.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VYYz6eqZEVs/YGcy03P9cnI/AAAAAAAAN9k/uQg-mGiwjRUARAwa1H5RoOzVVPzgDHC8QCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/ice%2Bdrop%2B4-21.jpg" /></a></div><br /><p class="MsoNormal"><br /></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I had actually tried
making one a couple years ago and since I usually use cheap artiste thread that
is bigger than size 20, I couldn’t find a stone big enough to fill the center
of the first one I made using Dianes pattern.
I am not very good with adjusting stitch count, so I didn’t try to make another
one until today. I remembered that I had some shuttles still wound with the size
20 thread I had bought to make St patricks doodads and didn’t end up using so I
thought this would be a good way to use up the thread.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">So this time I had a very difficult time trying to squeeze
in the flat marbles I have. I learned that I tend to tat very tightly and I
make little tiny joining picots. I have tons of flat stones and even using the
smalles one I could find I still had to pull and tug to try to get the last
ring to fit. In fact, I am totally testing the tensile strength of this thread
and at this point I am sure hoping the thread holds and doesn’t snap loose cause
someone could sure loose an eye!<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The good news is these are pretty fun to make so I think I
will be trying to make more of them. More good news is I have already sent out
my Easter doodads in plenty of time for everyone to receive them on time…APRIL
FOOLS!!! I still haven’t even made the cards for them yet . I am feeling really
stupid about that be cause the doodads have been done for over 2 years now and
they still aren’t in the mail yet. At this point there is no way that they will
make them on time so I am not sure I will even bother sending them out again!<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Sorry I didnt get this posted on the actual tatting day but we had a surprise guest show up yesteray. One of my husbands best friends was in town and he needed to borrow some guitars for a show he is getting to do in eastern Washington. It is always so awesome to get to hang out with him as he always has new music to share! So all in all it was a pretty good day and since those are very few and far between it makes them all the sweeter! I hope you all enjoyed the day as much as I did and heres to hoping more good days are to come!<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>Nikki Coramhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06254811025515708924noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2854162191537344965.post-30998094755616114952021-03-21T12:07:00.000-07:002021-03-21T12:07:56.050-07:00St Pats and new thread<p> </p><p class="MsoNormal">Well it looks like here we have another late holiday motif
post. Part of the reason why this is late getting posted is because we have had several house guests the past couple of days. My husband has been trying for several months to get together with several of his old high school friends that he was in bands with and do some recording. One of the friends is from out of state and his plans to make it here have been cancelled several times due to covid. They finally decided to just go through with the plans because the recording studio has been booked and changed so many times and flights have been moved that it was getting pretty expensive to not do it. I didn’t love the idea and it was quite weird to be with people after a year of not even seeing anyone. We all just tried to be extra careful and wash hands a lot and several of the guys had already had covid and most everyone has been vaccinated, so for now I will just keep my fingers crossed that all will be ok!</p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal"> For the last 4 St. Patricks doodads I have made shamrocks but there are
only so many different ways to make them. For this year I decided to make kind
of a frame to put a beaded doodad in. It was surprisingly difficult to find a
triangle pattern to use and almost just as hard to find a “not green” thread to
use since St Pats is all about the green. I came up with trying to find either gold
thread or rainbow color thread which wasn’t so easy either. I did some poking
around amazon and came up with a brand of thread that I have never heard about
and decided to give it a try.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal"><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8nHH6VDv3us/YFU7-7_Ol7I/AAAAAAAANwQ/iJvOZ_cMkLwXETLq8nggxUCHDSsz_j1RQCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/golo%2Bthread.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="277" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8nHH6VDv3us/YFU7-7_Ol7I/AAAAAAAANwQ/iJvOZ_cMkLwXETLq8nggxUCHDSsz_j1RQCLcBGAsYHQ/w208-h277/golo%2Bthread.jpg" width="208" /></a></div><br /><p class="MsoNormal"><br /></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The brand name is golo and it comes in several sizes and colors
but the only way to get the gold color was in size 20 which I was pretty sure
was going to be too small but I decided to give it a try anyway. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I was hoping it would be a bit thicker than Lizbeth
size 20 but alas it is pretty much the same size. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>This thread is actually a pretty gold color
and pretty nice to work with, its not too terribly expensive but on my budget
its more expensive than what I would normally spend.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">When I went to work the pattern I had found and put the
beaded doodad (that I had already made 4 of) inside the triangle I found that the tatted triangle was way too small. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I then tried to make the triangle with a thicker
size thread just to see if the pattern would work and I found out that with a
bit of tweaking the knot count I could make the pattern work. So the basic
pattern idea came from a motif by Ruth on the site 'tatted patterns calendar" that
you can find <a href="http://tat-calendar.blogspot.com/2007/07/july-11th-christmas-in-july-triangle.html">here</a>. The pattern has both written and picture directions so I was
very thankful to have found it. I just changed the counts to make it a bit
bigger. I cant remember where I got the pattern for the little beaded leprechaun but I changed it up a bit and added eyebrows and a 3D beard.<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal"><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RY_k-im0Cf8/YFZrLo5r77I/AAAAAAAANy4/QC19EibozhcU3HYaZhvvfVsM1AWkFP8xACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/st%2Bpat%2B2020%2Btriangles.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2025" data-original-width="2048" height="284" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RY_k-im0Cf8/YFZrLo5r77I/AAAAAAAANy4/QC19EibozhcU3HYaZhvvfVsM1AWkFP8xACLcBGAsYHQ/w288-h284/st%2Bpat%2B2020%2Btriangles.jpg" width="288" /></a></div><br /><p class="MsoNormal"><br /></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I couldn’t find any
rainbow thread either so in the end I just used an awesome green thread I had
found at goodwill.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I had kind of been
saving this thread for a doily but I couldn’t come up with any other thread. It
is a vintage J&P Coats knit- cro- sheen. This stuff is great to work with and
the photo really doesn’t do it justice to show the great colors in it. It bums
me out that this thread isn’t available anymore so I continue to look in
goodwills hoping to run across more. <o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal"><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-H5qd1SaD_ro/YFZxbIKX4yI/AAAAAAAANzo/CFWI2lCQyIcLhRrVbr5OlP8_QdqJAR7NACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/st%2Bpats%2B2020%2B1.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1328" data-original-width="2048" height="327" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-H5qd1SaD_ro/YFZxbIKX4yI/AAAAAAAANzo/CFWI2lCQyIcLhRrVbr5OlP8_QdqJAR7NACLcBGAsYHQ/w503-h327/st%2Bpats%2B2020%2B1.jpg" width="503" /></a></div><br /><p class="MsoNormal"><br /></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">I ended up making 12 of these doodads but would anyone care
to make a bet on if they made it in the mail on time? <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Well the answer to that would be NO! I have never
been so good about gifts at Christmas time so a few years back I started
sending out fun little things for St Pats. I have been meaning to start another
blog for my other crafting to post the things on it so I don’t clutter this one with non tatting stuff
but so far I haven’t gotten around to it yet. I should try to make it my mission to start another blog but as you can see I am not even so good at posting with this one on time so maybe I shouldn’t! I guess I will just have to wait and see if I get all ambitious.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal"> I did end up sending out some tshirts
and little rainbow treats along with the cards to some of my family. With shipping so stinking expensive
it is kind of hard to send it out to everybody I would like to. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>St Pats is kind of a weird holiday for some people
and I am pretty sure there are a lot of people that don’t even acknowledge it so
I usually only send out the cards to my close family. Unfortunately the shirts didn’t
make it in time but I guess the treats are good even though they were late. The cards were also late getting to people so that sucks! But hopefully "it is the thought that counts" and the love behind the making of them!</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><br /></p>Nikki Coramhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06254811025515708924noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2854162191537344965.post-57730909166754180672021-03-19T13:37:00.000-07:002021-03-19T13:37:25.588-07:00Belated Valentines Day<p> </p><p class="MsoNormal">Another post with some good news and some bad news. The good
news is that some of my valentines doodads made it in the mail but
unfortunately the bad news outweighs the good. I thought I had mailed them out
in time but the weather didn’t cooperate and I forgot that the postal service
was closed on<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Presidents day<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>so some of them were late anyway. And as you
can already guess..I am really late at getting this posted to my blog!<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"><br /></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Sorry about the poor lighting and the bad shaded areas in
the phote. For some reason I cant seem to figure out the best place and way to
photograph these so I finally just gave up and went with the best one I could
take at the time.<o:p></o:p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-c2HmyWb5nNw/YFUGZKNEMNI/AAAAAAAANvo/GGrePlR2AnUFtoygmYeDOmuLa0NY0fy7ACLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/vday%2B2021.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="308" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-c2HmyWb5nNw/YFUGZKNEMNI/AAAAAAAANvo/GGrePlR2AnUFtoygmYeDOmuLa0NY0fy7ACLcBGAsYHQ/w503-h308/vday%2B2021.jpg" width="503" /></a></div><br /><p class="MsoNormal">I found the pattern for the little rose on pintrest. It has
been posted by lots of people so I am not really sure whose original pattern it
is. I had tried to work this pattern when I found a picture of it but didn’t have
the directions so It didn’t go so well. Somewhere along the line I found
someone else had posted a better detailed picture with numbers as to which section to work next and it is super easy to do.For what its worth this is the<a href="https://www.pinterest.com/pin/743234744746284200/"> pattern</a> I used. I
used a thread called French rose by South Maid. This thead was not fun to work
with as the plies tend to split but I had already had my shuttles wound and it
is a pretty pink so I just kept using it.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The little beaded doodad actually took longer to make than
the tatting did yet I still ended up making 18 of these. Unfortunately I
was also still in the process of trying to get gifts (Christmas or otherwise )
sent out at the same time so when it came time to get them in the mail only
9 of them ended up getting sent out. And yes, yet again they were late! I am
not sure why I was so brain damaged and couldn’t remember who else to send
these to. I guess a big part is that they were late getting to the mail, so I just
didn’t bother to send more out. Also, it is very rare that I hear from people
who receive my holiday doodads so I am quite unsure if anyone actually enjoys
them! But since at least some people said they enjoy them, and I would go crazy
if I couldn’t bead or tat I will continue to keep making them even though it is
getting harder and harder to come up with ideas. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>Nikki Coramhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06254811025515708924noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2854162191537344965.post-22922621302355488382021-01-09T12:13:00.000-08:002021-01-09T12:15:39.240-08:00Merry Christmas, Happy New Year or whatever!!<p> </p><p class="MsoNormal">Merry Christmas and Happy New Year or like it says in our
holiday cards..whatever holiday this is posted on!<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">I have some good news and some not so good news about my
holiday doodads.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The good news is some
of them got sent out unfortunately, the really bad news is that I still haven’t
sent out some of them to my family members mostly <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>because I have still been trying to decide
what to send for gifts.(Several reasons for this but most of them revolve
around me sucking at life right now) My plan was to get these in the mail super
early but, as you can see with the cards that were already printed out from<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>last year, that wouldn’t make much sense. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>But we finally decided about a week before
Christmas that we would send them out and just hand write in the cards that “it
may be a Christmas miracle that they may actually arrive before Christmas “. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p>It has been another
extremely difficult Christmas. First and foremost, I just really hate the
holiday for several reasons. My stress level always goes through the roof around Christmas but this year has been beyond stress. Add the whole 2020 thing, very
little money coming in because I haven’t been working for so long, plus not
being able to spend it with family, pretty much equates to a terrible holiday. It
was definitely very difficult not to travel and spend it with family especially
because our new grand babies are getting old enough to know what Christmas is about
and the hubby actually had some time off. But we did the socially responsible
thing and stayed put.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><br /></p><p class="MsoNormal"><br /></p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1AqdwYh8ajw/X_oHUAp0i3I/AAAAAAAAM3A/_Kq0ngsDWPgs5kPKMySNWhTvWI9HfU7sgCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/xmas%2B2020%2B.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" height="314" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1AqdwYh8ajw/X_oHUAp0i3I/AAAAAAAAM3A/_Kq0ngsDWPgs5kPKMySNWhTvWI9HfU7sgCLcBGAsYHQ/w419-h314/xmas%2B2020%2B.jpg" width="419" /></a></div><br /><p class="MsoNormal"><br /></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">I am going to post this even though some of them still haven’t
been sent out because I have actually been working on these stupey ornaments
for several years now. I have talked about why in previous blog posts but I
guess the short reason is I suck! I had started making these for 2018 Christmas
but they didn’t get sent out that year, so I continued to keep making a few
more for 2019 but I got super overwhelmed that Christmas as well and was still embarrassed
to be sending out such tiny motifs with super simple beaded doodads that I
didn’t send them out then either. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">So that brings us to 2020…I had made<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> 30 </span>of these because I had planned on giving
them to the people I work with and the people my husband works with as well as
all our family. But as of right now I still haven’t been able to find a job yet
and my husband has been working from home so we only will be using 19 this year so
I guess we will still have a start for some people next year.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p>The Angel comes from a pattern that can be found all over
pintrest so it is a bit difficult to find out who actually started the original
pattern, I am pretty sure it is a pattern by Patrizia Pirocca as that is the
name that is watermarked in the picture that also has the stitch counts on it. I changed the count on the pattern and added picots to try
to make them a bit bigger. I made the picots different lengths on each one I
did so each angel actually looks a bit different . The pattern also had a bead
as the head but I knew that I was going to be mailing these out so I made the
head with thread. </p><p class="MsoNormal"><br /></p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-haYxbEORbt0/X_oHiO65UfI/AAAAAAAAM3E/MDcaf_SUsyEQNxm_i3aWeX1u6cG-lYxYQCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/xmas%2B2020%2B1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1520" height="363" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-haYxbEORbt0/X_oHiO65UfI/AAAAAAAAM3E/MDcaf_SUsyEQNxm_i3aWeX1u6cG-lYxYQCLcBGAsYHQ/w317-h363/xmas%2B2020%2B1.jpg" width="317" /></a></div><br /><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"><br /></span><p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The motifs are small
enough that they really didn’t need to be starched but since I used white
thread and apparently didn’t wash my hands often enough, some of them didn’t
stay so white so I used gold glitter glue to cover that fact. Since I used gold
I wanted to put a gold hanger on them but I couldn’t find any so I decided to
make my own ornament hanger. That worked out pretty well because I was able to
add the beaded star in a different way than I normally do. The white thread I
used was some crochet thread that was not very nice to work with but I just
kept working with it anyway. Please don’t ask me why because every answer I would
think to come up with isn’t very flattering toward me!<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">I guess I will just try to focus on the good news that some
of these actually got sent out, the holiday is over and the next couple of
holidays are my favorite. I am getting close to having the doodads for Valentines done
so please join me in crossing fingers that they will make it in the mail in a
timely fashion! I have been pouring over the internet (thanks to all you bloggers out there for providing inspiration) trying to come up with an idea for St Pats but so far it has been a solid week since I have worked on any project at all (that is a terrible, terrible admission and one I am totally not proud of, not to mention it is aweful for my sanity). Please wish me luck with coming up with something before I completely loose any sanity that I have left! Thanks!!<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal"><br /></p><p class="MsoNormal"><br /></p><p class="MsoNormal"><br /></p><p class="MsoNormal"><br /></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>Nikki Coramhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06254811025515708924noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2854162191537344965.post-87742778047490992342020-11-27T17:12:00.000-08:002020-11-27T17:12:45.198-08:00Happy Thanksgiving or Black Friday!!<p> </p><p class="MsoNormal">Happy Thanksgiving or should I say Happy Black Friday. I
guess that isn’t even correct considering that Black Friday has been going on
for weeks now as far as the stores go. We had a kind of last-minute
Thanksgiving because our plans kept changing. We were supposed to have several friends
over including one friend flying in from out of town for a weekend of food and music recording but we ended up doing
the socially responsible thing and cancelling due to Covid numbers going up
again. So we finally ended up doing a small Thanksgiving dinner on Friday with
just me and my husband, his son and his girlfriend. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">Once again I am ashamed to announce that my holiday cards
got sent out late which is really stupid because I actually had them done
fairly early. We try to put a personal note in every card so that can get a bit
difficult to come up with those so that’s a part of the reason why we
hesitated to get these finished and in the mail. Another big reason why I drug
my feet is because I am not really happy with the way these turned out. Probably
the biggest reason why I don’t like them is because these are my second attempt
at creating my own pattern and I am super critical of myself no matter what I
do. <o:p></o:p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-n_g8TJrp3-Q/X8GGOOnFXVI/AAAAAAAAMLc/0whF1siNOREFPuEJaIYcYwnGeFpBrmBswCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/Thanksgiving%2B2020%2B1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="2015" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-n_g8TJrp3-Q/X8GGOOnFXVI/AAAAAAAAMLc/0whF1siNOREFPuEJaIYcYwnGeFpBrmBswCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/Thanksgiving%2B2020%2B1.jpg" /></a></div><br /><p class="MsoNormal"><br /></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">I didn’t spend a lot of time trying to tweak this pattern to
make it right because I tend to “slip down a rabbit hole" way too easily now
days and it is a very slippery slope indeed, not to mention it’s also very long.
Also, as I mentioned several times before, nothing ever tends to be good enough
so, should I try to make myself happy I would never finish. I got the idea for
the feathers while cruising around pintrest when I stumbled across a dragonfly pattern
that you can find<a href="http://umintsuru.blogspot.com/2010/09/falaisie-road-dragonfly-pattern.html" target="_blank"> here</a>. The body is just a pattern that I am sure is found in
lots of places and in lots of patterns. <o:p></o:p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CVynbIVLZUM/X8GGeJQmvCI/AAAAAAAAMLk/NUa8Yp15gLQMA8tjMoOW1ZFAwNelw2twgCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/Thanksgiving%2B2020.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1983" data-original-width="2048" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CVynbIVLZUM/X8GGeJQmvCI/AAAAAAAAMLk/NUa8Yp15gLQMA8tjMoOW1ZFAwNelw2twgCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/Thanksgiving%2B2020.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p class="MsoNormal"><br /></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">These are the first time I haven’t put a little beaded do
dad with them partly because I am completely running out of ideas for
thanksgiving and partly because I figured since I added beads to them already
that would probably be enough. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p>I used South Maid 100% acrylic fiber called fudge brown.
This thread was a real pain in the butt to work with especially when it came to
closing rings. In fact I broke this thread several times when I was doing the
split rings for the head, although to be fair its partly due to the fact that I
was pulling the stitches pretty tightly
trying to make them even. This is one pattern that I actually used a picot gauge
on (just a big wood stick like doctors use for tongue depressors) because I
have a hard time making really large picots. I actually made 18 of these
because we anticipated having people here for the weekend but by the time I
came to trying to get them in the mail I only sent out 13 of them. In fact some
of them haven’t made it to the mail yet because we have been working on a
project for Christmas and I was just going to send them all at once but the
project is taking much long than anticipated and they are still not ready to
get in the mail yet. They really should have all gone in the mail already because
they are advent calendars for the grand kids so like everything else now days

posting about my holiday dodads. Its been a while since I have been able to say
that so I will count this as a win.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p>I know I have already done a cat for a Halloween motif but I
am running out of ideas, so I ended up doing another one. This is a pattern
called Small Stretching Cat Down and it’s another one by Jane Eborall that you
can find <a href="http://janeeborall.freeservers.com/CatStretchDown.pdf">here</a>. It is a pretty fun pattern to do because it has lots of split
rings.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-E0v2DDxSHOc/X53yFoPh7XI/AAAAAAAALxM/bnY5HXhGk6Iureyq2tCKaIdBXL9rpOinwCLcBGAsYHQ/s1959/halloween%2B2020%2Bsamples.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1959" data-original-width="1469" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-E0v2DDxSHOc/X53yFoPh7XI/AAAAAAAALxM/bnY5HXhGk6Iureyq2tCKaIdBXL9rpOinwCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/halloween%2B2020%2Bsamples.jpg" /></a></div><br /><p class="MsoNormal"><br /></p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">I first tried these in grey but when I went to look for a
beaded doodad idea to attach with it I decided to do a witch hat so I went with purple
Artiste #10 thread called wild berry (why did they call it berry I wonder?) to give it a bit more color. I also tried one without the eye but I didn’t much like that one so here is what I ended up deciding on…<o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal"><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-80CTYKjlyM4/X5306itIDUI/AAAAAAAALxg/MfZ5GJAF60EIb8fsIoXZfpvB7mwtCJ12ACLcBGAsYHQ/s2005/halloween%2B2020.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1321" data-original-width="2005" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-80CTYKjlyM4/X5306itIDUI/AAAAAAAALxg/MfZ5GJAF60EIb8fsIoXZfpvB7mwtCJ12ACLcBGAsYHQ/s320/halloween%2B2020.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p class="MsoNormal"> I ended up making 17
of these (not including the 2 samples) but I only sent 9 of them out. I kept
hoping that we would be able to either have friends over for a Halloween dinner
or that we would do our “normal” tradition of going to friend house to carve
pumpkins and dinner but thanks to Covid that didn’t happen. So, I will just put
all the extras together with the ones from previous years and maybe come up
with another idea to give them out.</p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal">I have actually had these done for a while now but of course we waited till the last minute to send some of them out. I had spent the last couple months thinking “I am going to get these in the mail early” but thinking and doing are pretty much on the polar opposites for me right now. I think most of the ones I put in the mail at least made it on time. But the better news on this one is that my parents were actually here around the middle part of October so they were able to take most of them back home with them and deliver them for me. I also was able to send back some Halloween goodies for my kiddos and grand-kiddos since they probably won’t be able to go out trick or treating this year which is kind of a big bummer since it falls on a Saturday. But maybe good news because its also a full moon tonight which always seems to bring out more craziness!</p><p class="MsoNormal">The card idea was mine. I actually started out with it
saying “ whats the scariest thing about 2020..Covid, being out of toilet paper or
the thought of Trump winning the election” but only part of our family would think
that was funny so I changed it to something a bit friendlier. I usually stay
out of politics but this election is going to be extremely critical so I hope
you will all remember to vote!</p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p>I also hope everyone has a Happy Halloween and that everyone
will do it safely!!</p><p class="MsoNormal"><o:p></o:p></p>Nikki Coramhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06254811025515708924noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2854162191537344965.post-46731532205117498212020-10-07T18:23:00.000-07:002020-10-07T18:23:53.224-07:00Cruise dolphins<p> </p><p class="MsoNormal">I don’t think I even want to bother counting the days I have
been social distancing/self quarantining in fact I would be hard pressed to
even guess what month we are in. I haven’t had much luck in finding a job. Most
days I have my hands full just trying to convince myself things are going to be
ok. I have been trying to keep my mind occupied with doing craft projects, but
I have still been having massive problems trying to start new ones. I have been
doing quite a bit of cross stitch, a bit of tatting but not a whole lot of beading
and way way too much time on pintrest looking for patterns. I had done a cross
stitch for one of my grand babies and had totally forgot about that until I ran
across a picture of it. Since then we have had 2 new grand babies, so I figured
I better get on the ball and get a couple more done for the rest of the grand
kids. For a couple of them I just ordered a kit but some of them I found
patterns on pintrest because hoarder me has a stash of fabric and thread. The
problem with some patterns is that you have to pick your own colors and on some
of them I had to change a couple things on the pattern, so I have spent hours and
hours looking for patterns, colors and making changes.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">I can’t post about the cross stitch stuff yet because they aren’t
all done yet and I don’t want to spoil the surprise but I can post about my
last tatting project that got handed out. Since it is such a long time until
the next holiday I wanted to come up with another project to do to let people
know that I am thinking about them.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Since
nobody is able to take vacations it got me to thinking about the last vacation
we had been on and that would the cruise that my parents treated our whole
family on 3 years earlier in September. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I had run across a cute dolphin pattern that I
figured would remind everyone of the days we spent together watching the
dolphins that played around our ship. <o:p></o:p></p><p class="MsoNormal"><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-t9jNgZarF6c/X35nta4hMsI/AAAAAAAALgk/PFU-RaqFrI4lJZrP5qTLmRUJEKbG23aWwCLcBGAsYHQ/s2048/cruise%2Bdolphins3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1536" data-original-width="2048" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-t9jNgZarF6c/X35nta4hMsI/AAAAAAAALgk/PFU-RaqFrI4lJZrP5qTLmRUJEKbG23aWwCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/cruise%2Bdolphins3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><p class="MsoNormal"><br /></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The pattern is one by Jane Eborall and you can find it <a href="http://www.janeeborall.freeservers.com/Dolphin.pdf">here</a>.
<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>She has some really fun patterns on her
site, if you haven’t visited it yet you should check it out! This is a fun
pattern to tat, it has lots of split rings which I have found to be fun to do.
It also has a down facing picot that I had never even heard of. I sure wish I
had know about these earlier because I know I have done several projects that would
have looked better had I know about them. This pattern also has the option to
do a split chain in a couple of spots but since I had not tackled those yet and
on this particular pattern you have to also attach it to an anchor picot on a
helper item I decided to leave those out. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">I first tried these in gray but they were so small and the
little ships looked huge <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>that I decided
to try them with a little bit thicker thread. The grey one is artiste #10
called cloud and the blueish one is J&P Coats knit cro-sheen called aqua.<o:p></o:p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Rdx1qDDO9Vs/X35lAq8StdI/AAAAAAAALgU/Rt9uWP4J_AQJLwibSeK8Wy7_W8HeSc9DQCLcBGAsYHQ/s1923/Cruise%2Bdolphins.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1923" data-original-width="1804" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Rdx1qDDO9Vs/X35lAq8StdI/AAAAAAAALgU/Rt9uWP4J_AQJLwibSeK8Wy7_W8HeSc9DQCLcBGAsYHQ/s320/Cruise%2Bdolphins.jpg" /></a></div><br /><p class="MsoNormal"><br /></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The best part of these little doodads is that I got to hand
deliver several of them. I ended up making 9 complete ornaments <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>but actually only needed 6 of them. Me and the
hubby got to take a trip back home and hand delivered them to the family
members that still live there. This happened in September it has just taken me a bit to get these posted. With any amount of luck I will get the next holiday motifs out in time!</p>Nikki Coramhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06254811025515708924noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2854162191537344965.post-56814965989722442292020-07-04T20:31:00.000-07:002020-07-04T20:31:31.886-07:00Happy 4th of July!!<br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
Happy 4th of July, it sure doesn’t feel like I
should call it Independence day since we are working on day 113th of quarantine. However, our county is
finally moving into phase 2 so I hope we are moving toward better days.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">

<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I am pleased to announce that I am actually all caught up on
posts so these are actually the doodads for today’s holiday. I am even more
excited to say that these went out in time for everyone to receive them by today. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>These are another holiday that I
had completed last year but not sent out.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
When I went to put these together I found a good reason why
they probably didn’t get sent out last year...these poor stars are super sad and
look terrible. I believe I must have gotten the idea for the star off of a
picture on pintrest because I could find the actual pattern. I found a couple
of trial stars that looks like I tried to figure out the pattern but clearly, I
didn’t do such a great job. Looking at these today I know there must be a much
better way to do these. <o:p></o:p></div>

I used Aunt Lydias Metallic size 10 thread and I remember
this thread was an absolute nightmare to work with. I used 2 rolls of this
crochet thread and I only ended up making 10 of these. I would have liked to
make more of them but the thread is awful to work with and it is quite
expensive so I decided not to put myself through more torture by making more. I
know I should use tatting thread instead of the thread I usually use (artitste)
but it is much more expensive and I have to think ahead and order it online so
I just use the stuff that is readily available at our nearest craft store which
is a hobby lobby about 35 miles away. I also find rolls of this at our thrift
store that is just down the road from us so I usually grab it when I find it. Yes,
this does add to my massive hoard that I have in my craft room. In fact it
takes up a pretty big space since there is not a really good way to store it
all. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></div>

These stars tended to curl up and were very fiddly. They

There are not a lot of ideas for Saint Patricks tatting

lives in Idaho! I made 12 of these and in looking back it looks like that I
forgot to send a couple of them out, probably partially due to the fact I was
in Idaho over the holiday and partially
because I was still reeling from being fired and my brain was not on straight.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
At this point I don’t even want to count how many days we
have been in quarantine, I guess I shouldn’t count days because it has been
months. The company my hubby works for (a company that builds carbon fiber guitars) “officially” had to go back to work last
Monday. Up until that week he has been working from home and pretty much everyone
else has still been getting paid but they haven’t had to go into work. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>The
company is located in the next county that has decided to move to phase 1.5 and
allow a few more businesses to open. His boss decided he could go ahead and keep
working from home <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>since a lot of what he
has to do can all be done from home, so for now he only has to go in when he needs
to.<o:p></o:p></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
The county we live in is still in full on quarantine because
we were one of the hardest hit as far as cases and deaths go so I haven’t been
able to find a job yet. Unfortunately, I haven’t really gotten anything much
done around the house either. About the only thing we have really accomplished
was a bit of yard work. My hubby loves rhododendrons and we have been meaning
to plant some in our yard since we moved in (yickes has it really been 6 years)
<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>but we never could find the time (or really
the money) <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>to do that since we have pretty
much worked every summer on the weekends doing concerts and festivals. I ended
up getting one at Walmart on clearance and then the next time I went to Walmart
I happen to ask if they were going to be going down in price and they said they
were just going to throw them away so they sold me 4 more for $8.00 each…SCORE!!
They had already bloomed and they were not looking so great but they are pretty
hardy plants so we are hoping they will be ok. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Our property is about 2 acres and for some
reason this stretch of land has never had anything planted along it. We are
hoping that its not because nothing will grow there or since we have a power
pole in the middle of that yard that it isn’t illegal to plant there. Wish us
luck!<o:p></o:p></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
I am happy to post that the next holiday I am catching up on
is Valentines day and I actually get to say that I sent them out. Unfortunately,
there is some bad news as well. I didn’t send them out in a very timely manner which
is a huge shame because I actually had these doodads done for last years holiday
and just didn’t send them out. Part of the reason why they didn’t get sent out
last year is because I didn’t love the way they turned out and partly because I
couldn’t come up with a card and partly because of the shame of not sending out
the Christmas cards. <o:p></o:p></div>

This is the first time I have tried adding beads into the
tatting project itself, it’s also the first time I had attempted split rings. I
got the pattern <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/291330055/lock-and-key-pendant-set-tatting-lace?ref=yr_purchases">here</a> on Etsy. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I tried tatting
the key a couple of different ways but because my picots are out of control since
the last couple of projects I did I wanted big floppy picots and the thread I
use doesn’t really allow for small picots to look good ( I used size 10 Artiste
thread called cloud. ) I decided to omit the picots. I still didn’t love the
way these turned out and adding the beads, especially the one that you have to
add to the second half of a split ring, really was not fun so I only ended up
making 12 of these. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Since I didn’t make enough
of these and I wanted to give a few more people valentines I sent out a couple
of the doodads that I had left over from previous years. <o:p></o:p></div>

When I went to put these together I found that when I made
the beaded hearts I didn’t account for a way to attach them to the tatting. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Usually I add extra beads or a bigger bead on
top to attach them but for some reason I didn’t this time. The beads were so
small that I couldn’t find a split ring with small enough wire to go through them,
so I ended up making my own rings. They don’t look very good but at least I got
them attached.<o:p></o:p></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
Things have been pretty frightening lately, I seem to have
lost days, maybe even weeks at a time because we are at day 60 of self quarantine
and I have no idea where the time has gone or what I have done the last couple
of months. Apparently, I need to quit blinking because it seems to happen in
the blink of an eye!<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">

<div class="MsoNormal">
Anyway, I would love to be posting about the next holiday
but alas the next holiday should be Christmas , and I seriously cant believe I
have to say this, but I didn’t send out Christmas cards yet again! Maybe even
worse than that is I can’t even remember why I didn’t send them out. If I had
to make a guess I would say probably because it was beyond stressful at work.
There were a couple of months that I seriously didn’t think I was going to make
it out alive. As far as Christmas goes, about the only thing I can remember is
that it was just me and my hubby hanging out alone for the day and since it
landed in the middle of the week I only had one day off anyway. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>So I am going to just move on past this
holiday, pretend it never even happened and hope for a better one next year. The
way things are feeling that may even feel Christmas will be here in the next couple
of weeks. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></div>

It is impossible to believe that we have been in quarantine
for 46 days, yet here we are. I have spent most of my days with my head spinning out of control, watching murder shows on
ID and trying to come up with a new craft project (dang pintrest is a huge
contributor to my stress) . I have an extremely difficult time starting new
projects: what with trying to make a decision on what craft I want to do next, like tatting, beading, jewelry making, cross stitching or plastic canvas etc. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>and then the fun of trying to choose colors
for the project aggghhh! I have an okay time while I am in the middle of a project
but then when I reach the end I have a hideous time completely finishing it. I actually
have lots of new crafts I want to try but trying to pick one is overwhelming. I
am a massive craft hoarder and I have a room full of supplies that would almost
put hobby lobby to shame but that is completely overwhelming because there is
so much and such a wide variety. I don’t know what my problem is but I feel
like one big giant mess.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
It is getting harder and harder to come up with ideas for my
holiday tatted/beaded cards. It is just as hard to come up with card sayings
and ideas, in fact trying to come up with cards is a good part of the reason why
they sometimes get sent out so late or sometime not at all. The next holiday is
a perfect example of both. <o:p></o:p></div>

I had already made leaves for a card a couple of years ago
but I couldn’t come up with anything else, so I found this idea by Marilee Rockley.
I don’t much like the little beaded guy so wasn’t super proud to send these
out. I made 13 total doodads but I only sent 6 of them out, mostly due to the
fact that I thought they were not so good and partly because they probably got
sent out late. I don’t like any of the colors and the poor scarecrow is just
sad. I used 2 different brands of thread and I was a bit surprised how
different the 2 threads were size wise. The gold leaf is artiste size 10 as is
called topaz and the red one is red heart classic size 10 and it is burgundy.<o:p></o:p></div>

I ended up making 13 of these doodads but I only sent 7 of
them out. I would venture a guess that they probably got sent out late because that’s
the way I usually do things (I am not<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>proud
of that but I am really trying to figure out why I have such a hard time
completing projects). That would also explain why only part of them got sent
out. I found the pattern for the tatting on pintrest, it’s a pattern by L.
Shelby and you can find it <a href="http://www.lshelby.com/Art/crafts.php?key=201&showing=Dragon_Pendant">here</a>. I changed
the pattern a little bit because she has the pattern listed as a dragon and I
wanted it to look like a bat. This was a pretty fun pattern to work but it’s
one you have to pay attention to while doing it because its easy to miss a join.
In fact, I made 2 of them that are unusable because I forgot a small ring on one
of the wings and on another one I missed a join. I used artiste thread, size 20
and the color is called pewter. <o:p></o:p></div>

I have sent out Halloween motifs for the last 4 years and I haven’t
missed a year since I started tatting so I have pretty much ran out of patterns
for this holiday. I found a witch hat by Gillian Buchanan that has a written <a href="http://web.archive.org/web/20040221220137/http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art13836.asp">pattern</a> and a diagram but for some reason I tried it and failed dismally. I can’t
seem to figure it out. I may have to try it again because I can’t find anything
else. I haven't been doing much tatting lately because I cant seem to find something to tat. Since I didn't send out any holiday ones last year I am ahead of the game for this year and Halloween 2020 is actually the next project I need to make stuff for. I have been doing lots of cross stitch because I realized that I never made a birth announcement for our grand son (my husbands daughters son) that will be 2 in June. I had made one for his brother so I figured I should do one for him as well. I also decided to make one for our new grand daughter (Jeez she will be turning 1 this month) and she has 2 siblings that I am working on as well. These have kept me quite busy but it has been way too long since I have tatted and I am starting to really miss it. I need to find a project soon before I forget how! <o:p></o:p></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
It sure has been a crazy last couple of months. I have
hesitated to post something lately because I don’t even know where to start. I
guess first off, I thought I would get some time to start posting a bit more regularly
because I lost my job. My boss let me go toward the end of February, just about a week after my last post. It is pretty much a case of "be careful what you put out into the universe and extra careful what you put into writing! I actually
had asked for a meeting with him so I could discuss the way my job has been
going but before I could talk to him about my concerns<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>he decided that things weren’t working for
him so he decided to let me go. I may never know if we went into the meeting
with his intent to fire me or if it was his “not thinking past this 5 minute
personality” or him not wanting to hear what it is I wanted to talk about as he
really hates to hear about any of his failings and he will go to great lengths
to avoid having to deal with those. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I have
been trying really hard to think of this as a good thing and that he did me a
favor in letting me go because I have been desperately stressed and not happy
at all at work lately but he paid really , really well and it is going to be pretty
difficult to replace that. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I tend to pretty much
bury my head in the sand and haven’t been able to deal with facing current events
as I have been so stressed about just dealing with my own every day to day stress
that adding anymore to my already beyond stressed life would probably push me
over the edge so I really hadn’t even know that the whole world was falling
apart around me with the pandemic. I took a trip to Idaho to go back home the
week after I was let go. The trip had actually been planned <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>several weeks ahead of that so it was kind of a
bummer about the timing of it all because had I known a bit earlier that I<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>didn’t have to rush back for work I would
have been able to have a longer visit. It was during my trip that I started to
learn about what was going on with the extent of the pandemic. A couple of days
after returning from Idaho my husband’s boss made the decision to close down
his business for the time being to participate in the social distancing
practices and a few days after that Washington made it mandatory that all non-essential
businesses close. My husband is working part time and he is down
to making 20% of his salary but so far, he pretty much spends the largest part
of his day in the back room doing heaven only knows what on the computer. I am
taking it a bit personally that he doesn’t want to spend any time with me but I cant say that I blame him because I am beyond stressed and probably not a lot of fun to be with. Its already been almost 3 weeks that he has been off and so far,
we haven’t really gotten anything done. We have lots of things that needs done
around the house, but I have been so depressed and stressed out that I find it
extremely difficult most days to even get out of bed. The longer I just sit
around the harder it is to get up off the couch. My head has been spinning and my
self-esteem has been completely back in the dumps and<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I have been feeling pretty worthless after giving
my heart and soul to a job and boss and to have him find me not valuable or
worth a crap to even try to listen to me or to try to work things out and to
just want me gone has been devastating. I have never been let go from a job
before and let me tell you it sucks! I know I just need to pull on my big girl
pants and move on but that is also difficult when I know that I don’t even need
to pull on pants because we are all stuck at home. I really just need to keep thinking that at least we are fairly healthy, and after all, I need to stay healthy because I don't have insurance anymore. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Hehe…maybe tomorrow will be a more productive
day! <o:p></o:p></div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
So I have a terrible confession and its one that I am super
not proud of but here it goes.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Its not a
huge secret that I haven’t posted anything for an extremely long time but it’s
the reason behind why I haven’t posted is my dirty little shame! The next holiday
I needed to post about was actually Christmas but the reason why I haven’t
posted anything is because I had my motifs all ready to go out including the
card but they just didn’t get sent out. Part of my family actually
visited mid January and I was going to give them the cards at that time, but I
felt stupid for being so late. But the biggest reason I didn’t give them out
then was<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>because after hearing them talk
about all the Christmas gifts they gave each other like refrigerators and foreign
vacation trips<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I felt so horrible that the
only thing we could afford to give out was tatted dodads I<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>was beyond crushed. I was completely devastated
that my sister was able to give such extravagant gifts to our parents and I was
going to hand them a stupid card with a stupid lil thing inside, so I didn’t
even bother to give them out.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Unfortunately, this is just the beginning of my massive
shame. Come Valentines day I had my motifs ready to go but I couldn’t come up
with a card and I was still feeling stupid about not giving out any Christmas
gifts and<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>not even sending out any cards
that I was too embarrassed to send these out.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I can carry over this same shame clear into October. I had St.
Patricks, Easter, and 4th of July motifs all ready but I just couldn’t
bring myself to send them out.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I guess
the good news is I have a jump on my motifs for 2020 so I guess we will have to
wait and see how that turns out.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I guess partly in my defense we had a pretty horrific 2019. My
daughter gave me my first blood grandbaby in April. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>She was born a month early under an emergency
situation. Both baby and momma did exceptionally well under the circumstances and
recovered fairly quickly and were released from the hospital within a week.
Both did really well for a couple months until my daughter was in a horrific car
wreck with baby in the back seat. Thankfully baby was strapped into a car seat
(one of the safest rated on the market) and just ended up with scratches and
hopefully no long-term issues due to shaken baby. Momma however ended up with
several massive deep cuts and a pelvis that got broken and fractured in several
places. I have never felt so helpless in my whole life as what followed in the
next couple months. I live in Washington while the rest of my family lives in
Idaho and I had already taken time off work for the baby shower and the birth
and visiting just the month before, so it was extremely difficult for me to travel
again. Thankfully my parents are both retired and have a house where they have
a room that is wheelchair accessible, so they were able to take both momma and
baby in. It was a huge undertaking because moms’ milk never came in so they had
to run up and down the stairs making bottles. My daughter wasn’t allowed to
stand up any longer than it took to transfer from the wheelchair to the toilet and then straight back to laying down so baby had to sleep with my parents which meant that they had to get
up for the night feedings. My daughter ended up completely out of commission for 4 whole months which encompasses so
much like getting her and baby to doctors’ appointments, all meals for mom and
baby, bathing’s, jeez the list goes on and on. My daughter also has 2 other kids/toddlers
that she has raised as her own for the last 6 years and that can be figured in
that mix.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I was only able to go back once during that time so add more
shame, guilt, remorse pretty much every demeaning adjectives you can use to my
low self-esteem. My self-esteem has always been excessively low anyway but it
is pretty much rock bottom right now.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>In the midst of all
this our well house floor caved in causing the filter system to sustain damage which in turn caused<span style="background: white; color: #222222; font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 10.5pt; line-height: 107%;"> electrolysis</span> in our
water system which caused leaks to start forming in the copper pipes in the
house which means we had water spraying out behind walls . During the appointment
for the estimate the contractor ended up finding our 2000 square foot deck was
attached to the house instead of being anchored to a beam and that all the snow
that we had during winter was so heavy that it had begun to pull<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>the deck away from the house which means it
started pulling the house down the hill with it. Insurance got involved which
covered replacing the deck and the damage to the house but not the plumbing. So
while the work on the deck was going on we took on the task of replacing all
the copper pipes throughout our entire 3000 square foot, 2 story house. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span><o:p></o:p></div>

We hired someone to do the plumbing and plumbers are in such
high demand that they can pretty much name their own price…translation...freaking expensive and hard to come by. Since the plumbing was so hideously expensive,
we took on the task of cutting out and redoing the sheet rock throughout the
whole house. What a nightmare mess, I am quite certain we will be finding sheet
rock dust till the end of time, I will be looking at the crappy job we did and
kicking myself for not trying harder but at least we still aren’t done with all
the rooms yet. The deck took the entire summer, April till mid-September so we
didn’t get to enjoy it at all. <o:p></o:p></div>

Quite a few of us suffer with major panic/anxiety attacks and
severe depression and the accident has exacerbated them. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Several of our family members went through some
very emotional stuff this past year. Its never easy to see the ones you love go
through pain and heart ache and it was a very tough year for both.<o:p></o:p></div>

Work has been extremely difficult on lots of levels. My boss
is a very challenging person to work for. He is a very “this 5 minute” kind of
person, he doesn’t much think beyond the exact moment he is in, he doesn’t
think how<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>his actions or words from this
minute will effect the next 5 minutes. He wants it all and he wants it right
this second. He changes his mind and his direction so drastically and so often
that it is very difficult to keep up. He has decided to expand the business into
several different directions, like taking on general construction, doing pedestrian
door and gates and doing commercial as well as residential work. So this
translates into all of us learning <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>completely new things while trying to keep up
with our already overwhelming loads of work. <o:p></o:p></div>

I am sorry, I just realized I have been rambling on and on and
whining when I should be very thankful that I even have a roof over my head, a
job that pays the bills and a growing family that is fairly healthy . So I will
quit ranting and call this a long enough post for now. Hopefully I will have time to post more soon. We have been working pretty much every single day for the last several months trying to get caught up on finances so we don't have much free time now days. <o:p></o:p></div>

We ended up getting a huge snowstorm that has caused lots of grief on lots of levels.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>We ended up
getting<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>at least 24 inches in less than
2 days. It is super heavy snow so trying to get unburied has been an

rain and then freezing at night so everything is like an ice skating rink in
places where the snow has been cleaned off. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Thankfully the only real damage we have

have been so late in getting these out lately that I am embarrassed so I end up
not even sending them out at all so I end up with extra motifs and have no idea what to do with them.<br />

I was going to try to take advantage of our snow day off and
get another post out of the way. I started several posts but I didn't get them finished on the snow day but at least I made the attempt. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"></span>It
snowed on Sunday night through till Monday morning and as I work for a service
company that runs service trucks and live in an area that is not equipped for
snow removal my boss made the decision to not even open the doors. We actually
got about 6 inches on Monday and we stayed down in the teens all week so the
snow didn’t get much of a chance to melt so when we had an anticipated storm
set to hit the area again on Friday my boss decided to not open on Friday
either. We did end up getting about 4 more inches which is huge when we don’t have
snow plows or sand trucks so it was probably a good idea that we didn’t have
the guys come in and take the chance of getting stuck and being snowed out of
home.</div>

Anyway, up next we have Halloween. Since there are several
months between 4th of July and Halloween you would think that I
would have plenty of time to come up with a fun motif and have plenty of time to
get them done but apparently, in my world that is just not the case. I
remembered seeing a spider web motif somewhere in my cyber surfing but it was a
bit difficult to find it again. I remembered that it was probably “tatman” site
that I saw it on but since he has taken the site down it was quite difficult to
try to find. For some reason I had it in my mind that that was the next pattern
I wanted so I searched for a long time trying to find the pattern. I did end up
finding a picture of it and it took me several tries to figure out the pattern.</div>

Calendar wise up next I should have Easter to post about. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I spent several hours digging through my
tatting boxes and photos trying to find my Easter project. I finally had to
come to the conclusion that I didn’t make or send any out. It is quite
frightening that I seriously can’t remember why or what happened but the fact
remains that I was lame and missed a holiday. I did find a couple motifs that I
started that may have been a start of Easter but I can’t post them because they
will eventually go out to family.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
So I guess up next we have Independence Day.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>It looks like I made 15 of these but I only
sent out 9 of them. I feel like this year has been a terrible year where I
started with the best of intentions but never followed through or finished any
of my projects.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>It seems like I made lots
of motifs but then didn’t get them sent out. </div>

I tried to find where I got the pattern for the tatted motif
from but I can’t seem to find it.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>It
makes me feel real badly when I can’t give credit to the artist that created a
pattern that I used. I am fairly certain that I found the pattern on pintrest
and the pattern had a picture of the final project with the pattern behind it.
I used artiste thread in size #10 and the color is blueberry. I remember I had
a big problem with this pattern with missed joins and I ended up ripping a
bunch of stitches out which was not pleasant because trying to open a closed ring
that doesn’t have a picot in it is not very easy. I didn’t love the way this pattern
turned out but I couldn’t find another pattern and I was in a hurry to try to
get them done. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
As for the pattern for the little beaded doodad , I have had
most of my patterns so long that I can’t remember where I got them from. I have
been beading for over 25 years and I have a huge accumulation of holiday
ornaments that I hang on a display for each holiday and more often than not
that is where I get my ideas for the tatted accents. </div>

I had every intention of posting three days right in a row , I was just missing one little thing...to hit the publish button two days ago...LOL. I am still
playing the catch up game so up next we have St. Patricks day. Due to the short
amount of time between Valentines Day and Saint Patricks day I ended up making
and sending out only 10 of these. </div>

Sarver Morgan</span> that worked up pretty quickly. You can find the pattern
<a href="http://tattingwithsharren.blogspot.com/2011/03/of-plans-and-internet-connections.html">here</a>. The shamrock on the left is made with size 10 artiste thread called snow
pea and the one on the right is made with size 20 Lizbeth thread called leafy
green. It was quite interesting dong the same pattern with <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>2 different brands of thread. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I don’t often get to use the Lizbeth thread,
for one it is much more expensive and for two it is hard to find around here. If
I want to use it I have to plan ahead and order it well ahead of time which
rarely happens. Each thread had its own strengths and weaknesses so I am not sure I could pick my favorite. </div>
